haha omg i've abandoned this place for so long oops ): sch has been seriously busy and crazy and zomgggg i don't even know where to start hahaha! a lotttt of things have happened since the last time i blogged, like really, seriously A LOT. i've been meaning to blog abt every single detail of my life so i can rmbr everything but hahahaha a month later i guess i can't rmbr much anymore so uh i'll keep it short and sweet hahaha :D
shall start from float! (: float building was damn hiong omggg 8 am to 11 pm every day for 2 whole weeks omgg, and we were just working full time on building the float and practising our dance (: our theme was circus haha so our float was like blue and yellow and there was a clown face on the front, and 4 pop-up 3D murals of a mime, clown, marionette and acrobat behind hahaha damn pretty la i really love our float haha was super duper proud of it when we were finally done (: haha built by only 48 pairs of hands k hahah you know how pro that is or not omgggg compared to other faculties with so many ppl available to help hahaha! :D and our dance was quite well-choreographed too i think hahaha super pro la our seniors! (: and if i wasn't so sucky at dancing i think i would have enjoyed dance pracs hahaha but noooo i was damn sucky during the pracs so it always felt like torture hahaha! :p my character was a mime haha we had damn cool dance moves yayy haha :D and i'm glad to say that by performance night, i wasn't nooby anymore hahaha not bad right omgggg within 2 weeks i became so pro at dancing hehehee! :D oops ego :p
so yeahh float was not bad la, haha though some ppl were really unpleasant at times haha (i shan't elaborate here, cos the world is very small) but i'm glad i've found some nice people i can click with also (: so yayy haha :D we're not exactly like super uber close yet but i hope we'll get closer with time (: for now we're just a big clique of 12 people (that's a quarter of our cohort btw hahaha so imba right :p ) who always sit together in class and eat lunch together haha but i'm happy with that la (: as long as i have some company can alr hahaha (: loneliness is a dreadful feeling man...
and the amount of work and lessons we have to go thru is really crazy zzz D: i knew dental sch was tough but i didn't expect it to be this tough omg.... we have to juggle like labwork and theoretical lessons for now, and in year 3 and 4 we have to manage our own patients for the clinical component, plus the usual labwork and theory lessons omg ): stress omggg D: and it doesn't help when ppl in class are so on abt everything like, omggg they actually manage to prep and read up for lessons in advance omgg it's intimidating and scaryyyy D: then in class they just regurgitate everything they know omg it's damn scary i'm so stressed at not knowing what's happening zzzz D: and trust me it's much worse if you don't have bio background from jc cos then the learning curve gets even steeper )))): sometimes i wonder what i'm doing here hahah... the amount of mugging is just ohmygosh, totally not my thing. ): i like the kind of subjects where you don't have to memorize stuff or mug very hard, just do practice questions can alr hahaha ):
but i really do like some of the lessons here haha they are actually pretty interesting ((: for first year we have to take anatomy, biochem, physiology, dental materials, dental morphology, oral biology and operative dentistry (labwork yayy! :D ) hahaa and uh biochem stinks to the max esp since i ALWAYS dunno what's going on omg it's mad la i feel so stupid )): anat lectures suck to the max too cos they're always after lunch and my brain is always non-existent during that time so yeah hahaha ): but i love all the other dental related subjects hahaha really super interesting can! (: and i love how the dental profs are so interesting and inspiring hahaha ((: they're really so full of passion for their profession haha and they've said many inspiring things in class too that really make me feel so much better especially during the times when i start questioning my choice of staying here to do dentistry haha (:
like the other day during dental materials, our prof told us this: "when you study, don't just see it as studying for your exams, see it as studying for your patients.... cos in anything you do, your patient should always be your first priority" haha so nice right it's really so patient oriented omg ((: and it's a nice way of thinking i guess haha, studying for exams makes everything so stressful and all, but if you think of it as studying for your patient it's not so bad i guess hahaha (: makes studying loads more meaningful too yayy (:
dental morphology is pretty cool too haha our prof is really funny hahaha ((((: but it's so interesting too haha the way he sees the teeth as topographic features hahahha (((: "the ridge here and the groove there, just like how a river runs through the valleys... so beautiful!" hahaha (: totally makes the lesson very lively heh :D we all have our own container of 16 teeth for dental morpho lessons haha it's pretty cool hehe (: though most of the teeth are really carious alr (i guess that's why they were extracted in the first place) but i still think it's pretty cool (: haha and omg omg our prof says that some of our teeth are more masculine and some are more feminine hahaha faints so funny la! :D oh and interesting fact from our prof: the sharpness of your canines is supposed to determine how sexually potent you are HAHAHA so everyone go check out your canines in the mirror now hehehe :p i'm proud to say mine are relatively sharp okay hehehe yayy! :D
anat dissections are fun too i think haha (: it's like, the most interesting part of anat alr k haha (: we get to go to the anat hall and work with dissected human cadavers haha it's pretty cool really! (: though i really pity those cadavers la it's really quite sad, like omg they can't die in one piece omg have to be dissected after they die D: but yeah it's damn noble of them la haha if not for all those cadavers i guess it'd srsly be damn hard for us to learn anatomy D: hehe and oh i'm so glad they don't smell like rotten or anything (: though the smell is still pretty bad haha cos the lab techs use formalin to preserve the body and the formalin smell sucks la it's super pungent, i always lose my appetite after anat dissections ): i like how we get to see the REAL stuff up close though haha (: like omg now i can say, woah i touched a real brain and a spinal cord and a hip bone hahaha! :D
i like operative dentistry lab sessions too! :D it's the most fun part of sch i think haha cos it's all hands on haha so it's really not so boring (: and it's supposed to hone our operative skills for clinics in future haha (: i like our lab though haha it's really cool! (: we each have our own unit, with our own computer screen and dummy and handpieces, insturuments, foot pedal, etc hahha :D damn cool right (: and we have our own tool box of instruments too haha so exciting la :D all the instruments are damn sharp though hahaha no wonder they say dentists are a bunch of very fearsome people hahahha the instruments can look very intimidating indeed! D: for year 1 and 2 we are only doing preclinical stuff though haha so we have to practice on this rubber dummy (he has a name ok omgg he's called oscar hahahaha! :D ) and learn how to hold our instruments and use them properly haha (: and i think we'll be learning how to do cavity preparations with amalgam, and other restorations too haha so exciting omgggg (((: it's pretty stressful though, cos you have to pass a lot of operative competency tests or else you won't be allowed to progress and start on real clinical stuff ): oh man and this is why i believe i shouldn't be drinking so much coffee anymore, cos the caffeine apparently makes our hands unsteady so it's totally bad for our profession! ): but sighhh i can't help it leh zzz without coffee i'm as good as a brain-dead zombie in sch )): sighhh D:
haha and yupp so that's basically what sch is like la (: it's exciting but draining (: haha and a lot of other things happened but i don't wish to elaborate on them here for various reasons hahaha online channels are not very safe these days! ):
it's now the season for sending friends off.... it's a bittersweet feeling haha cos it feels sad knowing you're not gonna see all these people for a long time ))): and also partly cos i should have been boarding a flight in early sept too but now i'm not, and it feels like...well... i dunno how to describe also la ): i guess there's always a lot of room for regret whenever we make impt decisions, and there's no telling which choice is better unless you really experience it for yourself... well yeah technically that's what i always tell myself these days. but sometimes i just can't help regretting, thinking of all the opportunities i had, but let them slip through my fingers ): they say we must make the most of what we have, so i guess for now, i am going to really work hard for my patients (: and seize whatever opportunities come my way (: if i keep telling myself this, i'm sure one day i will be able to completely stop regretting (:
